04.21.2010: Hartford, CT - John Pogson stands in a hallway off the Mark Twain House Auditorium before giving an address on the 100th Anniversary of Mark Twain's death. The Mark Twain House celebrated today's date with events that Twain, their press release states, "might have loved." There was an expose of spiritualist charlatanism with a magic-filled seance, an Ace of Cakes Mark Twain House cake and a tour of the house led by paranormal expert Lorraine Warren.

04.06.2010: Hartford, CT - Marcia Cole, on a walk through Bushnell Park, offers the bud of a flowering tree to her 7-month-old grandson William Cole. Marcia, who says she is on "Spring break" from her teaching position in Michigan, came to Hartford to visit her children. She says she has been in the park with William everyday.

04.03.2010: Hartford, CT - Kwame Antwi, of Buffalo, New York, celebrates during a Pentecost USA prayer service Saturday afternoon at the Connecticut Convention Center. Pentecost USA organizers said 8500 people came today for its "2010 Regional Easter Convention."

03.25.2010: Hartford, CT - During a bicycle tour of historically significant locales, Historian Bill Hosley talks about the gravesite of Tirzah Parson, in Spring Grove Cemetery. Parson's father, Israel Parsons, was a fighter in the American Revolution which makes Tirzah, according to Hosely, "A real daughter of the American Revolution."

02.09.2010: Hartford, CT - "How do you recognize when someone you are dating is an abuser before you are involved," asked 20-year-old CCSU student Gina Ratz of a panel of four teen dating violence experts during a Forum at the University of Hartford. The Key Issues Forum was moderated by Susan Campbell, columnist for the Hartford Courant, and featured on its panel: Dr. Jhumka Gupta, Yale School of Public Health, an expert on violence against boys and girls; William S. Pollack, author of Real Boys and director of the Centers for Men and Young Men at McLean Hospital, Boston; Iris Ruiz, assistant director, Interval House, and teen dating violence survivor; and Alisson Wood, youth program manager for a Bridgeport program that prevents teen dating violence and a survivor herself. The forum was named: "Teen Dating Violence: How to Spot It, What to Do About It."

02.04.2010: Hartford, CT - An historic brownstone owl sculpture that has been part of Hartford Public High School and its history for more than a century, was removed from its perch outside the school for repair in 2006. It's back and has been placed in a secure, indoor spot, mosty dur to the efforts of the school's historian R.J. Luke Williams, who oversees the schol's history musem.
